Dear Colleague
May I take this opportunity of welcoming you to BrisDoc Healthcare Services. You are part of a great team of people and I am sure your time with us will be both enjoyable and rewarding.
As an organisation that operates 24/7, 365 days a year, we have an important job to do. It’s called looking after the people of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) and being committed to achieving excellent patient care.
As such, our own staff created the following mission statement to sum up the type of organisation we are, setting a wonderful standard for the company that I am proud to say we continue to live and work by:
Providing excellent ‘patient care by people who care’
BrisDoc has been providing urgent care services since July 2001 with the development of GP Out of Hours (OOH) co-operatives in north and south Bristol. These GPs took the decision to go back to weekend working to ensure the best possible service for their patients. Since then, we have changed considerably, growing from a small organisation consisting of one administrator and three drivers to now employing over 300 staff and working with circa 170 self-employed contractors, delivering seven-day primary care services; these include integrated urgent care, medical practices, and specialist primary care.
Throughout this time, we have always aspired to keeping the BrisDoc service local, with local staff and bases accessible to our local communities.
Another goal we aspire to is ‘workforce care by managers who care’. We want to make sure you grow in your job thus we will be facilitating your personal development in your new role through regular reviews. We aim to communicate regularly with you on matters that are important to us all, such as patient care, operational performance, and information connected to your specific role as well as the terms and conditions of your employment.
We hope this handbook provides you with useful information on BrisDoc. Please study the contents carefully as it contains a great deal of helpful information as well as some of our ‘policies and practices’. This handbook will be updated from time to time and the most recent version will be available on Radar. If you need any further information or help in any way, please do not hesitate to ask your line manager and, or the People team.
In the meantime, welcome aboard!
Dr Ray Montague
