All employees and casual workers are paid on the 22nd of the month (or the Friday before if the 22nd falls on a weekend).
For employees (i.e. those working regular contracted hours), you will receive a monthly salary paid on the 22nd of the month which is based on the current month. For example, on 22nd January you are paid your salary for the period 1st to the 31st January.
Any overtime worked is paid one month in arrears. For example, on 22nd January you will be paid any overtime that you worked between 1st-31st December. All unplanned overtime must be submitted via self service on Rotamaster by the 2nd of each calendar month in order to be paid on the 22nd. This would include claims for attending meetings, training or special projects.
(Note: any additional shifts you have agreed to work in advance will be entered onto Rotamaster for you and will show on your Rotamaster timesheet).
For all casual (bank) workers and zero hours employees, you do not have a salary as you are not contracted to work regular hours. Any shifts you book into will be entered onto Rotamaster and you will be sent a timesheet each month to confirm the shifts you have worked. Any training you attend will need to submitted through self service on RotaMaster. All hours worked will be paid one month in arrears.
All staff should check their Rotamaster timesheets and highlight any anomalies before the 6th of the month.
For any other information on rates of pay, please contact the Payroll Department at brisdoc.payroll@nhs.net or on 0117 9370900.
Pension at BrisDoc
NHS Pension
BrisDoc’s standard scheme is provided by NHS Pension (for more information, visit http://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/Pensions.aspx). Membership is for all staff aged between 16 and 70.
Both you and BrisDoc will pay a contribution into it every month:
- BrisDoc (‘employer’) will contribute a significant contribution, with the amount determined by the government from time to time (as at 2024/25, the amount is 23.7% of your gross pensionable earnings).
- The percentage for your own contribution is based on how much you earn (or your full-time equivalent salary if you are part-time). Minimum is 5% up to a maximum of 14.5% (based on 2022/23/19 financial year)
For all non-GP staff, pensionable hours (including overtime) are a maximum of 37.5 hours per week (i.e. 162.94 hours per month).
Since 1st May 2014, BrisDoc is subject to auto-enrolment legislation. This means, if the following criteria applies to you, you will automatically be enrolled into the NHS Pension (although a deferred period of 3 months can apply):
- You earn over £10,000 a year (£833 a month);
- You are aged 22 or over; and
- You are under State Pension age.
NEST Pension
If you qualify for auto-enrolment but have already retired from the NHS Pension scheme or already accrue the full-time benefit of the NHS Pension elsewhere, you will be auto-enrolled into the government’s National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) scheme which requires an employee contribution of 5%, and BrisDoc contribution of 3%.
Pension Opt-Out
Opportunities to opt out of either scheme can apply within a specific time period. Please contact the Payroll/Pensions Department on 0117 937 0900 for more information.
