BrisDoc provides GP Out of Hours to South and Central Bristol, operating from an additional site in the Bristol Royal Infirmary NHS Trust (BRI) and caring for 280,000 patients. Staff from Primecare (Bristol) transfer to BrisDoc via TUPE legislation.

BrisDoc provides GP Out of Hours to an additional area – North Bristol and 5 Practices in South Gloucestershire – and operates from a third site at Southmead Hospital. The service cares for more than 450,000 patients. Staff from NorDoc transfer to BrisDoc via TUPE legislation.

BrisDoc introduces the GP Support Unit (now the Acute GP Team) in the BRI to provide alternatives to hospital admission for patients referred from primary care. This service, whilst starting as a 6 month pilot has been awarded the NHS Alliance Acorn Award in 2009 for new developments in urgent care.

BrisDoc’s North Bristol contract moves to Frendoc. BrisDoc continues to care for 350,000 patients.

BrisDoc opens up its first of two Equitable Access Practices – GP Walk-in (8to8) Service in South Bristol. This service discontinues on the 31st March 2012 following the opening of the NHS Bristol-led Urgent Care Centre in South Bristol Community Hospital on 1st April 2012.

BrisDoc opens its second Equitable Access Practice – Broadmead Medical Centre. This surgery & walk-in service is located in Boots in Broadmead in the centre of Bristol and has a registered list of more than 10,000? patients. On 10th April 2012, BMC’s walk-in service expands with an expected patient demand of around 24,000 patients per annum.

NHS 111 commences in Bristol and North Somerset thereby replacing BrisDoc’s Call Handling and Triage service in GP Out of Hours.

BrisDoc provides GP Out of Hours in South Gloucestershire from additional sites: Frenchay Hospital and Yate Medical Centre. Staff from Frendoc transfer to BrisDoc via TUPE legislation.

BrisDoc provides GP Out of Hours in North Somerset from additional sites: Weston Central and Clevedon Hospital. Staff from Harmoni transfer to BrisDoc via TUPE legislation. The now Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) service expands to care for 920,000 patients.

BrisDoc’s GP Support Unit (which became the Acute GP Team) expands to operate 12 hours per day by screening medical (and some surgical) patient admissions into the Bristol Royal Infirmary through referrals from GPs and other healthcare professionals across Bristol.

BrisDoc, in partnership with GP Care and 24 local GP practices in Bristol and South Gloucestershire (collectively known as One Care Consortium), won £5m as part of the £50m Prime Minister’s Challenge Fund to improve access to care for patients.

BrisDoc’s GP Support Service (AGPT) expands to operate an additional service from Southmead Hospital.
Oct 2016
BrisDoc expands to include the management of Bristol’s Homeless Health Service. Staff from this practice transfer to BrisDoc via TUPE legislation.

BrisDoc expands to include the management of Charlotte Keel Medical Practice.
Apr 2019
On the 1st April 2019 the GP Out of Hours Service is replaced by the SevernSide Integrated Urgent Care Service.
