Bonuses
If you are employed on a BrisDoc contract of employment, you will receive the below financial benefits (this does not include those with a Casual Workers Agreement). All bonuses are calculated based on your working hours and there is a minimum length of service term that applies to the Sharing Success and Being Prepared bonuses.
- Employee-Owner Trust bonus – Employees are eligible for a pro rata tax-free bonus; surplus that would previously have been distributed in shareholder dividends. Read more about the EOT bonus here.
- ‘Sharing Success’ discretionary bonus – All bonuses are subject to the successful performance of the business and your individual contribution, and therefore cannot be guaranteed. The amount will vary between zero and 10%. Read more about the Sharing Success bonus here.
- ‘Being Prepared’ discretionary bonus – Following completion of all statutory & mandatory training by 31st October each year. Read more about the Sharing Success bonus here.

NHS Pension Scheme
Our standard scheme is provided by NHS Pension. The NHS Pension Scheme continues to be one of the most comprehensive and generous schemes within the UK.
Both you and BrisDoc will pay a contribution into it every month:
- BrisDoc (‘employer’) will provide a significant contribution, with the amount determined by the government from time to time (as at 2022/23, the amount is 20.6% of your gross pensionable earnings).
- The percentage for your own contribution is based on how much you earn (or your full-time equivalent salary if you are part-time). Minimum is 5% up to a maximum of 14.5% (based on 2022/23 financial year)
For all non-GP staff, pensionable hours (including overtime) are a maximum of 37.5 hours per week (i.e. 162.94 hours per month).
Since 1st May 2014, BrisDoc is subject to auto-enrolment legislation. This means, if the following criteria applies to you, you will automatically be enrolled into the NHS Pension (although a deferred period of 3 months can apply):
- You earn over £10,000 a year (£833 a month);
- You are aged 22 or over; and
- You are under State Pension age
NEST Pension
If you qualify for auto-enrolment but have already retired from the NHS Pension Scheme, or already accrue the full-time benefit of the NHS Pension elsewhere, you will be auto-enrolled into the government’s National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) scheme which requires an employee contribution of 5%, and BrisDoc contribution of 3%.
